This course is designed to enhance the participant’s knowledge and skill in the evidence-based
management of individuals with lower extremity disorders and dysfunction. Recorded lecture
material will review current best evidence related to examination, differential diagnosis,
movement assessment, clinical reasoning, manual therapy, and progressive exercise prescription
for common hip, knee, ankle, and foot conditions.
In-person laboratory sessions will emphasize practical examination and intervention skills for the
lower extremity. Participants will practice joint and soft tissue assessment, thrust and non-thrust
manual therapy techniques, mobility interventions, and exercise progressions for common
regional impairments and functional limitations.
Laboratory content will include management strategies for hip mobility restrictions,
femoroacetabular and lateral hip pain presentations, knee pain and functional strength deficits,
ankle mobility limitations, foot and ankle dysfunction, and lower extremity movement control.
Exercise labs will emphasize progressive loading, return-to-function decision-making, commong
exercise mechanics, single-leg control, and integration of strength and mobility interventions
into patient-centered plans of care.
